I'm using WeatherLink with the USB connection. At times I lose communication with the PC software.
This is caused by electrical noise introduced into the USB port on the PC. Solutions are:
Eliminate the source of the noise (paper shredder, fan, etc.).
Do not use an AC adapter on your Vantage Pro console. Most noise is picked up on the AC adapter cable. Eliminating the adapter can prevent the entry point for the noise. The console's three C batteries can last up to one year and you will receive a message on the console when they start to get low.
Attach a ferrite cylinder on the AC adapter cable to help filter out the noise. These can be purchased at many electronic supply stores. Digikey's (www.digikey.com) part #240-2245-ND works well.
