CarChipE/X includes all the features of #08211 CarChip, plus four times the data storage—up to 300 hours of driving data. (The actual number of hours will vary, depending on how frequently you log data. When full, CarChipE/X "rolls over" and begins to overwrite the oldest data with the newest.)
As with CarChip, you'll get time and date for each trip, distance, speed, hard accelerations and braking, and engine diagnostic trouble codes. CarChipE/X records every second of every trip. You can also test for emissions status - find out the chances of a used car passing the smog test before you buy it! You can also sort business and personal miles, set thresholds for graphs, and calculate gas mileage.
With CarChipE/X you'll also be able to monitor any four out of 23 user-selectable engine parameters, including:
- RPM
- Throttle position
- Engine load
- Fuel pressure
- Fuel system status
- Short- and long-term-fuel trim
- Battery voltage
- Timing advance
- Coolant temperature
- Air flow rate
- Intake air temperature
- Intake manifold pressure
- Oxygen sensor voltage
Plus, if you're unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, CarChipE/X will automatically generate an accident log showing the last critical 20 seconds of speed.

Vehicle Conflicts and Exclusions
There are a few vehicles in which CarChip does not function properly, and there are others in which CarChip may interfere with the normal operation of the vehicle. Please review the list of known CarChip Vehicle Conflicts and Exclusions before purchasing or using CarChip.
Important Safety Notice
CarChip has been carefully designed and tested to comply with the OBDII protocols used on most cars and light trucks sold in the USA, model-year 1996 or later. However, some vehicle models are not in full compliance with these protocols. In addition, the computer control systems on any given vehicle may be malfunctioning or out of spec, as may be the sensors used by these systems.
Before installing CarChip, be sure to review the list of known vehicle Exclusions and anomalies. For more information on OBDII issues and anomalies in general, we recommend The Equipment and Tool Institute's website at www.etools.org.
While our testing and the experience of thousands of CarChip users have shown the unit to be safe and reliable, there is an inherent risk in adding any aftermarket product that may potentially affect the operation or drivability of your vehicle. If you become concerned about the operation of your vehicle at any time while using CarChip, you should pull over, off the roadway, immediately or as soon as it is safe to do so. Remove CarChip from the OBDII port and consult a licensed mechanic or automobile service center.
