Senior Web Development Engineer (Front End)

Davis Instruments, a leading manufacturer of weather stations, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Web Development Engineer for the front end. We have a state-of-the-art development environment and use AWS to host our services, mostly Java-based code. We have tens of thousands of Internet of Things (IoT) weather devices in use by our worldwide customer base. The software includes a data visualization website with data ingestion, APIs and mobile apps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new features or enhance existing features for our website with minimal direction and adherence to architecture and coding guidelines.
  • Implement and support API used by our various mobile apps.
  • Create and maintain unit tests and automation for website features and APIs.
  • Participate in architecture and technical discussions with a tight-knit group of engineers.
  • Work with product management, support and designers to come up with elegant software solutions.
  • Function effectively in a high-volume, fast-changing work environment while managing multiple time-critical issues.

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing consumer-facing web applications.
  • Strong Java language expertise for front-end development.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with the full stack of software development. You know what works and what doesn’t and how it all fits in with the latest front-end technologies.
  • Strong experience with backend APIs (Restful) and impressive UI skills.
  • Experience building responsive Single Page Web Applications using modern front-end technologies:
    • Prior knowledge of using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or jQuery.
    • 2-3 years working knowledge of frameworks such as AngularJS and/or Backbone.
    • Build & CI Tools: grunt, npm, etc.
  • Proven experience in the following backend technologies:
  • Databases: MySql or other SQL db.
  • Build & CI Tools: maven, jenkins.
  • Unit Tests: Junit, TestNG.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Dropwizard, Jetty, Jersey, Jackson.
  • Experience with php for supporting legacy code.
  • Experience with noSQL databases like Cassandra.

Accounts Payable Accountant

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Prepare quarterly Sales & Use tax returns
  • Prepare annual 1099s; Requests and maintains vendor 1099 information.
  • Investigate, communicate, and follow-up with internal departments as well as business units to resolve invoice / payment discrepancies
  • Vendor invoice review / validation, ensuring proper approvals are in place, monitor various deductions
  • Process invoices for payment with proper documentation and authorization
    Prepare monthly accruals and reconciliations
  • Check processing
  • Reconcile credit card statements (verify receipts and proper coding)
  • Initiate wire transfers
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries
  • Calculate commissions and royalties
  • Maintain A/P files, including filing
  • Perform Month-end and Year-end reconciliations
  • Perform other job-related duties or projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • AA degree in accounting or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience with an understanding of the full Accounts Payable cycle
  • Experience in Microsoft Word / Excel / Accounting Software
  • 10-Key Adding Machine skills

Preferred:

  • BA or BS degree
  • Experience with EPICOR ERP System
  • Experience with database management
  • Adept at creating worksheets (Excel Intermediate level)
